Gaelic Subway Advertising

Gaelic Subway Advertising

The Gaelic Advertising

Is it just me or does anyone else think that this is an odd advert on the subway. I have no problems with the advert itself, more that it and its variations seem to be permanently plastered on the subway.

Gaelic Subway Ad
Permanent fixture

You know the ad. There is the one with the little boy smiling that has been about for a while plus another one with a little red haired girl. It’s all very nice and deeply patriotic but I am guessing that most of us really got the message after the first few weeks. Surely after a while all the people who regularly travel on the subway and want to learn Gaelic will have seen these ads and, well, gone and learned Gaelic.

I don’t know how much gets spent on these ads but they are pretty much plastered all over the subway. Does it have an agenda, pushing it’s message to us poor commuters?

That’s probably a bit harsh but it is quite widespread.

Gaelic Subway Ad Modern
The newer version

To be fair it may be that the SPT have given them a discount. Keeping Gaelic in circulation is a decent enough cause. If they have they should say.

Either way I am getting bored of these ads. They have been around for ages. Apart from the Timeout ads its been short shift on originality in recent times. We need something more interesting to look at.
